2. Build quality and Material
So this HP 14 DK0093AU has all plastic build with a smooth cover and inside. The color is almost light silver and in the center of the lid is an HP Logo. In addition, all edges and corners are rounded.
3. Dimensions and Weight
The dimensions of this laptop are 32.4 cm (12.8 inches) wide, 22.6 cm (9 inches) deep and 2 cm (0.8 inches) high. The weight of this laptop was measured using a self-weight meter. And this is for
- Laptop – only: 1.74 kg (3.84 lbs)
- Laptop with charging cable Accessories: 1.86 kg (4.1 lbs)
The purpose of measuring weight with accessories is to give you an idea of how much weight you may need to carry while traveling. So this laptop is lighter than Asus VivoBook Ultra 15 (1.8 kg) and Lenovo IdeaPad S145 (1.85 kg). But heavier than the Mi Notebook 14-horizon (1,35 kg) and Dell Inspiron 14 3493 (1,7 kg). Compared to the weight of other laptops with a similar price, I found this machine in 3rd place out of 6. See the comparison in the table below.
4. Display quality and color rendering
Size and quality
The 14 inch 1080 60Hz IPS Non-Touch screen is surrounded by panels nearly 1cm thick. Thanks to the IPS panel, it has good viewing angles. It is therefore preferable compared to Dell 14 3493 (WVA panel), Lenovo IdeaPad S145 (VA panel), and VivoBook M513 (VA panel).
5. Touch Keyboard, Flex, build and RGB Backlight?
Flex keyboard and build quality
The keyboard has a smooth plastic island. Silver plastic keys have somewhat darker fonts. They are slightly larger than average and the fonts are not very visible compared to laptops with black keys.
As I pressed it hard with my fingers with a fair pressure, I found little Flex there. But I had no problems during normal use. If you want to go for a laptop with almost no flex keyboard, then go for Dell Inspiron 14 3493.
It’s a bit annoying that this keyboard does not have a backlight. A keyboard without a backlight requires more minutes of battery life, but you have a problem typing in a low ambient space. If backlit concerns more for you then it is better to go with Asus VivoBook M513. It has a level 3 of each zonal white backlight.
6. Camera and Microphone
The 720p camera and a microphone could be at least up to the mark. It’s really not for video conferencing. During a video call, I found that the photo was taken with a lot of distraction. And, the microphone was completely useless when used outdoors.
In addition, both are placed on the upper bezel. Here, this laptop does not support Windows Hello, not even a fingerprint reader. For better camera quality, opt for Asus VivoBook Ultra 15 M513.
Compared to the other 5 laptops in the same price range, I found this one at the last Position. See in the table below.
In terms of quality comparison, this one took last place with the Dell Inspiron 14 3493 laptop. Compared to the microphone quality for the same laptops, the results are about the same for this machine. See the following table.
The 2 firing speakers are located at the top of the keyboard under the machine. A thick belt with tiny holes, located at the top of the keyboard, is for audio output. The speakers are not noisy at maximum volume. In addition, they also sound a bit tiny with a bit of bass available.
Digitech’s sound level measured the 78.1 dB of the sound level, while the YouTube video is watched at maximum volume. For more detailed information about the quality of the speakers, I performed the LatencyMon test. And, the LatenzyMon Results are only an Average.
According to the table above, this HP 14 DK0093AU is in the penultimate Position of 6. but its sound is very clear to hear like Asus VivoBook Ultra 15 and Acer Aspire 3. in addition, Asus VivoBook has an excellent combination of volume and clarity of the speaker compared to other laptops of the same price range.
The 45wh battery lasted 1 hour and 32 minutes during the continuous stress test. And while YouTube shows 50% of screen brightness and disables background apps, it lasted 6 hours and 51 minutes.
Compared to the battery capacity for the same laptops, I found this laptop ranked in 2nd position. Compared to battery life when watching YouTube on the same laptops, I found that this laptop ranks 2nd out of 6.
