  • Weight: 4 lb (1.8 kg)
  • Laptop dimensions: 36 x 23.5 x 2 cms

2. Construction quality and material

The Asus VivoBook Ultra-15 has a cobalt blue plastic construction. The interior is a smooth Matte plastic surface. In addition, there is a silver ring around the touchpad and a yellow accent around the ENTER key to make it easy to distinguish.

But despite the plastic construction, it feels sturdy and quite strong. All in all, it feels good like other plastic laptops I’ve tested.

3. Dimensions and weight

The dimensions of this VivoBook 15 are 36 cm (14.2 inches) wide, 23.5 cm (9.3 inches) deep and 2 cm (0.8 inches) high. In addition, I also measured its weight alone and with charging accessories.

  • Only for Laptop: 4 lbs (1.8 kg)
  • For Laptop with charging accessories: 4.4 lbs (2 kg)

The purpose of checking the weight of the laptop with its charging accessories is to give you an idea of the weight you need to carry while traveling. It is heavier compared to mi Notebook 14 Horizon, but lighter than Razer Blade (3.55 kg), Dell G3 3500 (3 kg), Legion 7i (3.13 kg) and Dell Alienware (3.3 kg). But, found heavier than MSI gs65 Stealth-004 (2.40 kg). See more weight comparison in the following table.

4. Display quality and color rendering

Size and quality

This M513 VivoBook features a display THAT WILL 1080p 60Hz 15.6 inches. The viewing angles are slightly below average due to THE VA panel. And it is surrounded by 7.5 mm thin glasses on both sides.

So not a better screen quality in terms of viewing angles compared to the display Of mi notebook.

5. Keyboard-Touch, Flex, Build, and RGB backlight?

Keyboard Flex and build quality

As I said, the whole body is made of plastic. So when I pressed it hard with my fingers with just one pressure, the keyboard was a little bent. And the flex was also found extended towards the resting area of the palm. But during the aggressive beating I found no problems there.

Flat square buttons with rounded corners have colored and white fonts. They are medium-sized. In addition, the WASD part is not highlighted. But, that is not necessary, since this Asus VivoBook is not a gaming laptop.

Simple Zonal White Backlight

The Chiclet keyboard has 3 levels of a single white backlight area. You can either turn it on whenever it is needed, raise the level, or turn it off completely when you don’t need it. In addition, the secondary functions of the buttons are slightly less illuminated with maximum backlight. It is a little disappointing about this machine.

The interesting fact is that this is the only non-gaming laptop that has a backlight on the keyboard.

Overall, I found the chiclet keyboard of this laptop much better than the scissor mechanism of mi Notebook 14 Horizon. Also mi did not set backlight on. So not amazing, but also not bad, just a little above average to get the job done.

6. Camera and microphone

The 720p camera and microphone are good for capturing face and voice. In addition, the camera does not support Windows Hello here. And, the microphone is good, but also a little noise captured with my voice.

Compared to the quality of the camera to other 5 laptops with a lower price range than this, this machine has reached the 1st position with Lenovo IdeaPad S145 and mi Notebook 14 Horizon.

7. Speaker

The 2 downward-facing speakers are located at the front corners of the sides under the laptop. They are quite loud at maximum volume, but a little tiny with a little bass present. In addition, the Digitech sound level meter measured the sound when watching the YouTube video. The noise level was 84dB and changed around it.

Compared to the noise level Asus VivoBook reached the 2nd place. Lenov IdeaPad is in first place in this comparison with 86dB noise level, while Acer Aspire 3 A315 is in last place with 77dB. It is worth noting that the sound of IdeaPad S145 is not so clear.

8. Battery

To be honest, this laptop did not have a long battery life for CPU-intensive tasks. The 42Wh battery powered the laptop and lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes during the continuous stress tests. And, 6 hours and 15 minutes to watch on YouTube at 50% of screen brightness, keyboard backlight turned off and background apps turned off.

Compared with the notebook Mi Notebook 14 horizon, he sucks. Because a 48WH battery supplies the Mi notebook with power and took 7 hours and 29 minutes. Overall, battery life is about average in terms of life and quality.

Compared to the same laptops in terms of battery capacity, I have found that this laptop is ranked 3rd out of 6.
